An hour away from the vibrant and photogenic streets of Sapporo, Hokkaido lays a small and shy village. At first glance you might feel a chilling feeling, a sort of creepy nostalgia. Then comes a familiar feeling; you´re home. This small community of “Sweden Hills” was inspired by Scandinavian architecture and lifestyle, with red wooden houses, white window frames, and dalahästar!

For me, visiting was more than just sightseeing. It sparked reflections on identity, belonging, and how cultures can travel, transform, and take new shape far from where they began. Sweden Hills is not only a charming destination but also a quiet reminder that home is not always one single place — sometimes, it’s many places at once. – Nordic Notes
